Spacemaker - Ableton Effect Rack

Spacemaker is a Ableton effect rack similar to a well-known VST that analyses an external sidechain signal and automatically applies an inverse curve to the main signal, automatically cutting clashing frequencies from the main signal. The device uses 16 frequency bands for the analysis process, and is useful for dynamically creating space in busy mixes, for example ducking the frequencies of a kick drum from a synth bass, or a vocal from a piano, only on the frequencies of the sidechain signal.

Requires Ableton Live Suite or Max For Live. Tested on Live 11 but should work in Live 10 as well.

Basic Usage:

Select a sidechain source via the compressor in the 'Routing' layer, and then dial in 'Gain' to a desired level. You can monitor the frequencies that Spacemaker is cutting via the 'Processing' layer.

Macros:

There are a number of macros I have set up for easy tweaking.

Gain - Adjusts the gain of the sidechain source for more/less effect.

LowCut - Adjusts the minimum frequency at which reduction will occur.

HighCut - Adjusts the maximum frequency at which reduction will occur

Tilt - Higher values will increase sensitivty in the higher frequencies. Lower values will increase sensitivity in the lower frequencies

Attack - Adjust how quickly Spacemaker reacts to sidechain input

Release - Adjust how quickly Spacemaker will stop reduction
